Grandfather makes $200k off a bet on grandson
October 20 , 2013
A grandfather had bet on his grandson Harry Wilson that he'll become a professional athlete. The $80 turned into $202,000 about 17 years later.
Peter Edwards said he retired a year early. "I have come home now and will not be going back," he said. "Not bad for a daft bet."
The 62-year old had bet with a bookmaker when he saw Wilson chasing "a ball around the carpet before he could walk."
Wilson decided to sign with Wales but his debut was unpleasant for his grandfather, who had to "wait for 85, 86 minutes before he came on," Edwards said.
"But when he came on I had another glass of wine. A proud granddad first for sure."
