Google has found a way into our homes

Google recently bought a thermostats and smoke alarms maker for $3.2B, which could be seen as being an annexation of our personal spaces.
Nest is more than just an Internet company since its products get installed into people's homes and monitor the behavior of those living in them. This means that it doesn't matter if Nest is operating separately since Google has found its way into our homes.
Dan Hon at Wired mentioned that maybe it's time for people to rethink about companies such as Nest.
"There just has to be a viable alternative to building a long-lasting, scaled company other than being acquired by the likes of Google," he writes. "Otherwise it's starting to look like a monoculture out there."
