Gold bars worth $1M found in airplane
November 22 , 2013
Jet Airways workers made an expensive discovery: Two dozen gold bars worth $1M hidden in two boxes and stuffed into the toilets of the plane.
India is a major gold buyer in the world and the increase in taxes has recently led to an increase in smuggling as well.
The cleaning staff found this gold after the plane returned from the eastern city of Patna. No arrests have been made and no one has yet claimed the gold.
"We are also asking the aircraft crew to tip us off about people who spend slightly more time in toilets," an investigator said.
