Ford CEO to retire this year

  • Ford CEO Alan Mulally will be replaced by Chief Operating Officer Mark Fields after his retirement in July 1. The man is responsible for saving the company from financial ruin after he was hired in 2006.

The 68-year-old has been running Ford's daily operations since 2012 is now expected to become a member of the board of directors. The WSJ noted last month that he could leave the company earlier than he's expected to, but the latest reports indicate that the transition will happen six months earlier than previously scheduled, since Mulally wanted things to speed up.
