The researchers said they compared the prices of burgers to minimum wages in various countries since they wanted to see where the minimum wage in the U.S. is ranked on an international scale. The research revolves around a simple question: "How many hours does it take to earn a Big Mac at minimum wage?"
The Big Mac index was created in 1986 to determine if the currencies are at the "correct" level.
