Euro hits nine-year low against dollar

  • The euro slipped to a nine-year low against the US dollar, with investors predicting the ECB may take action to boost the economy, media reports said.

Falling 1.2% against the US dollar, the euro reached $1.1864, the weakest since March 2006. It eventually recovered a bit to touch $1.1937.

Mario Draghi, the ECB president, has indicated that the bank could begin quantitative easing.

The euro has also been affected by the political uncertainty in Greece, analysts say.
