eBay's profits beat expectations, but strong dollar takes toll
April 23 , 2015
eBay has posted a quarterly profit of $626 million, which is better than expected, in the first three months of 2015.
The revenues for the online retailer increased by 4% to $4.45 billion compared to the previous year. The firm, however, said that a stronger dollar had “significantly impacted” its results.
The firm hoped to complete the process of severing ties with its PayPal payments division by the third quarter. John Donahoe, eBay’s chief executive, said that both businesses were “executing well with greater focus and operating discipline.”
