Debt crisis: Greek Finance Minister ready for deal under 'different' conditions
February 17 , 2015
Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis has said he was willing to do “whatever it takes” in order to reach a bailout deal after talks with EU finance ministers collapsed.
His remarks came after the Greek government rejected the EU offer to extend the present €240 billion bailout.
Varoufakis, who called the EU plan “unacceptable” and “absurd”, indicated that he was ready for a deal provided the conditions are different.
However, Jeroen Dijsselbloem, the head EU negotiator, said that his “strong preference” was to extend the bailout.
