Couples should have in-depth retirement discussions
March 17 , 2014
People are aware of the fact that they aren't saving enough for their retirement but at least they're discussing their retirement plans with their significant others.
Couples state that they discuss planning about 14 times each year. However, that may also mean that they've only mentioned the word "retirement" instead of talking about it in-depth.
President of Capital One ShareBuilder Dan Greenshields said these discussions are necessary and advises couples to talk about retirement over dinner or on a weekend retreat just to make it more fun. Trying to determine what's important to one another and the available expenses could play a huge role in making your golden years comfortable.
"I'm happy to hear couples are talking about retirement planning 14 times a year - I thought they wouldn't be talking about it at all," psychologist Diane Sanford said.
