Controversial troika supervising Greece's finances may go
February 3 , 2015
The European Commission has indicated that the troika overseeing Greece’s debts may be replaced, media reports said. The troika represents members from the commission, the European Central Bank, and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and carries out periodic checks to make sure Greece sticks to its bailout commitments.
But the left-wing government in power in Greece now is opposed to the troika’s agenda. On Monday Margaritis Schinas, the spokesperson of the European Commission, hinted that an earlier proposal to replace the troika would be taken up.
