Biggest fast-food strikes to come on Thursday

  • Don't buy a Big Mac on Thursday since the fast-food strikes are expected to come back exactly a year after they began in 2012.

Organizers are planning these in 100 cities in the US and aim to see workers being paid $15 per hour. Reports suggest that there will also be protests in another 100 cities. "There's been pretty huge growth in one year," an organizer said. "People understand that a one-day strike is not going to get them there. They understand that this needs to continue to grow."

The Service Employees International Union supports the movement but the National Restaurant Association said the increase in wages could result in a decrease in hiring.
