Audi aims for top premium car spot by 2020

  • Volkswagen unit Audi aims to become the world's biggest maker of premium cars by 2020, according to Audi Chief Executive Rupert Stadler.

Stadler was quoted by Sueddeutsche Zeitung in an interview published on Saturday.

The company had previously set a goal of making Audi the world's top premium carmaker by 2015.

Stadler comments follow news that Daimler’s sales of Mercedes-Benz luxury cars grew in June at the slowest monthly rate so far this year, as sales in its key market of China continued to rise at a sluggish pace.
