A climb in bed-tax collections

  • Hotels, campgrounds and vacation rentals in Volusia County generated up nearly 10 percent from May 2012.

The difference has been seen from $1,238,881 to $1,026,678.

The CEO of the Daytona Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau said that these numbers kind of validate the course that they're on when it comes to getting out of lackluster growth over the past couple of years.

Southeast Volusia, posted the county's largest year-over-year gain, thanks to this year's inaugural Beachweeks, which is a six week series of beach- and fitness-themed events that began in mid-May.
