Zimbabwe's president Mugabe sacks deputy Joice Mujuru
December 10 , 2014
Zimbabwe’s president Robert Mugabe has sacked his deputy, Joice Mujuru, after he accused her of plotting to kill him and corruption.
Besides sacking the vice-president, Mugabe dismissed seven union ministers linked to the alleged plot, according to an official statement.
Mujuru, who was once considered to be a successor to Mugabe, has denied the existence of any such plot, saying she was a victim of a “web of lies”.
In recent months, Mugabe's wife Grace has carried out a campaign against her.
