US: Drought-hit California orders water cuts for state's farmers

Lawmakers in drought-hit California have finally ordered the state’s farmers to cut their water consumption.
The cuts are the largest in the history of the US state, and California’s farmers will have to curtail water use for the first time in decades. Around 100 water rights holders will no longer pump from three waterways.
California, which is facing an unprecedented dry spell, has been looking at ways to conserve water.
