Sanctions against Russia are illegal, unreasonable, says ambassador
July 25 , 2014
The Russian ambassador to London Alexander Yakovenko has described the sanctions being imposed by western countries against Russia as “illegal, unreasonable, and counter-productive.”
Britain has echoed claims by the US and Ukraine that there is a strong reason to believe that Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 was shot down by pro-Russia rebels using a Russian-made missile. The United States has gone further, saying it has evidence that Russia intended to deliver more powerful rocket launchers to the separatists.
But Yakovenko denied Russia had given any weapons to the rebels. He said the Russian government was only providing “humanitarian assistance” to refugees from Ukraine.
