February 22 , 2013
A decision over whether Oscar Pistorius, accused of murdering his girlfriend, should be freed on bail is to be made later today.
The Olympic and Paralympic sprinter denies murder, saying he shot Reeva Steenkamp believing she was an intruder at his home.
Steenkamp had been shot in the right side of her head, her right hip and her right elbow,
According to his defence, contradictory evidence given by a detective has undermined the prosecution's case.
The prosecution, however, argues Pistorius may abscond and bail should be refused.
If denied bail, the athlete could face months in prison before a full trial begins later this year.
