Houthi Shia rebels in new Yemen cabinet
November 8 , 2014
Yemen has formed a new cabinet which includes rebels from the Shia Houthi community who had seized capital Sanna in September.
The 24-member cabinet, headed by Khalid Bahah, the prime minister-designate, has been formed in an attempt to defuse political and ethnic tensions plaguing the country for the past few years.
The rebel leaders had assured their fighters would be withdrawn from the capital after the formation of the cabinet.
Since anti-government protests started in 2011, Yemen has faced increasing instability as well as security threats from al-Qaeda-affiliated groups.
