Motorola wins Microsoft ban in Germany
May 3 , 2012
An injunction has been granted to Motorola Mobility against the distribution of key Microsoft products in Germany.
The sales ban covers the Xbox 360 games console, Windows 7 software, Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player.
The move follows a ruling that Microsoft had infringed two patents required to offer H.264 video coding and playback.
Microsoft said it plans to appeal against the German ruling.
A hearing is scheduled May 7 though the judge may issue his ruling at a later date.
The case is one of several involving around 50 intellectual properties that Motorola claims Microsoft should have licensed.
