Apple ordered to re-write Samsung statement

  • Apple has 48 hours to re-write a statement on its website relating to a design rights dispute with Samsung, UK judges ruled on Thursday.

Apple was ordered on October 18 to publish a message clarifying that Samsung had not infringed the iPad's registered design.

However, Samsung complained the statement posted by Apple failed to comply with the court order.

UK judges have agreed and told Apple to post a new, compliant version.

Apple had asked it be given 14 days to post the replacement but the request was denied.

The court order is the latest development in a lengthy legal battle between the two firms.

Apple brought the case to UK courts, claiming that Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10 had infringed the design of its iPad.

Apple was unsuccessful in the case, meaning that it was unable to impose a sales ban on Samsung's products.

It was ordered to place a notice on its website, newspapers and magazines stating that Samsung had not infringed its designs.
