Heineken says no to takeover proposal from SABMiller
September 15 , 2014
Heineken, the Dutch brewer, has rejected an offer of take-over from Britain’s SABMiller, reports say.
Heineken said after consulting its “majority shareholder,” it decided to reject the proposal from the London brewing giant, calling it “non-actionable.”
The founding Heineken family seeks to keep the company as an independent firm, it said. The Heineken family owns a little over half the firm.
Heineken is the third largest beer-maker in the world, in terms of volume, after AB Inbev and SABMiller.
