The flag of Cayman Island is navy blue in color with the British Union Jack on the left hand corner and the ‘coat of arms' of the island on the flag. The current national flag of Cayman Island was officially adopted in the year 1959. Before this date for all its administrative and official purpose Cayman Island used the British Union Jack because it is a British Overseas Territory. The symbol of the ‘coat of arms' of Cayman Island is placed on a circular white patch on the national flag of Cayman island and this version is used for all official purpose.
