Maps of the World

World map as the name suggests is a map indicating all the seven continents of the world in one map. A world map shows the three dimensional earth on a flat 2 dimensional platform.

It was the basic curiosity to know more about the earth, how it looks, where are the different countries of the world located that resulted in the creation of world map. Made by using projection styles like Mercator projection, Albers Projection, etc, a world map depicts the overall earth's surface as a whole.

Shown in political, physical or outline form, world map can be used to present a wide variety of information of the world. Thematic maps is one such example where a world map is used as base to show interesting data like world time zone, world population etc. a basic world maps shows all the seven continents of the world, five major oceans and all the 192 countries of the world.
