Literally explained, Space Weather translates as the kind of weather conditions that is sported by the outer space. On a more elaborate scale, Space Weather is the climatic conditions that are experienced in the outer space.
Introduction :
Space Weather deals with the changes in weather conditions and other environmental fluctuations that happen in space. The outer space itself, which is the scope monitored in space weather, covers the space around the interplanetary arrangement and the interstellar arrangement.
Weather in space is of importance in as much as it affects the climatic conditions of the earth. Weather in the space is mainly monitored and measured by tracking radiation and matter interaction.
Conditions Crucial about Space Weather :
Most of the weather of Space is recorded by observing the behavioral patterns of the sun and things affected by the solar presence. Of these many things the most important of them is the recording of the condition of the Earth's magnetic field. Even the observation of the positioning of the Earth in the solar system plays a crucial part.
There are numerous other factors that play quite a crucial role while determining the condition of the Space Weather. Among the most important of the lot is the magnetic field in between the various planets in the solar system; and the intensity and the concentration of the solar wind. This solar wind is carried by plasma called the solar wind plasma.
There are several types of solar winds depending on their intensity. They are:
- Geomagnetic storms
- Substorms
