Twickenham Stadium

Twickenham Stadium , located in Twickenham in the south-west of London, is the largest rugby stadium in the United Kingdom and hosts a number of rugby matches as well as other events. The stadium, also known as the Twickenham or Twickers , plays home to the England's Rugby Football Union or the RFU and is the only stadium in which the English rugby team plays all its home matches. The history of the stadium goes back to 1908 when a market garden purchased by RFU committee member William Williams in 1907 started having stands constructed around it. The stadium hosted its first match on 2 nd October, 1909, between Harlequins and Richmond . However, it was the 15 th of January of 1910 when the first international match in the stadium's history was played between England and Wales .
