North Korea has issued warning that any attempt to intercept its satellite launched for peaceful purpose would result in a war against the US, South Korea and Japan. North Korea stated that it has put its military on full combat alert.
The warning came after the US and South Korea began a 12 day joint military exercise. South Korea and the United States believe that Pyongyang could be preparing to test-fire a long-range missile under the guise of a satellite launch. South Korea had already announced that it could no longer guarantee the safety of commercial flights through airspace it controls off the east coast.
Tensions between the two Koreas have escalated since South Korea's President Lee Myung-bak began taking a harder line approach on taking office a year ago.
