Airports of Florida are busy throughout the year. Both public-use and military airports are there in the state. The largest airport is Miami International, and is the busiest in the state.

Florida, which is home to numerous beaches and amusement parks, witnesses thousands of travelers from around the world visiting the state every year. But getting to Florida is easy as it boasts superior air connectivity, provided by many of its international and domestic airports. The busiest airports in Florida are Miami International, Orlando International, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International, and Tampa International.

  1. Miami International Airport (MIA) – The largest airport in Florida, Miami International, serves as a major gateway between the United States and Latin America. MIA is the hub for passenger airlines, American Airlines, and Executive Airlines. Miami International is the tenth busiest airport in the United States, as per the data collected in 2016. Total passengers that year were more than 44.5 million. One of the distinguishing features of the airport is that it is among the eight airports in the country that have the capability to accommodate the massive Airbus A380 jumbo jet.
  2. Orlando International Airport (MCO) – Orlando International is the second busiest airport in Florida, and also the 13th busiest airport in the United States, as of 2016. The airport received more than 41.9 million passengers. MCO is the focus airport for JetBlue Airways, Southwest Airlines, and Frontier Airways.
  3. Fort Lauderdale – Hollywood International Airport (FLL) – Located near the city of Hollywood, Florida, this airport is a hub for Caribbean Airlines, Allegiant Air, and JetBlue Airways, and a focus city of Spirit Airlines. The airport’s proximity to Port Everglades makes FLL airport popular with tourists headed for the Caribbean. The airport connects Florida to other parts of the world.
  4. Tampa International Airport (TPA) – Tampa International is publicly owned by the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority, and is the hub for Silver Airways and offers many daily Southwest flights. TPA serves over seventy destinations, with international flights to other North American countries and the Caribbean, plus the United Kingdom and Switzerland. Currently, the airport also serves 80 non-stop destinations throughout Europe, North America, Caribbean, and Central America. It also hosts regular charters to the Cuban cities of Havana, Santa Clara, Camagüey, and Holguín. In 2016, TPA was the 21st busiest airport by passenger movement in the USA– handling approximately 29.2 million passengers.

Palm Beach International Airport – Serving Greater Miami, Palm Beach International Airport is a prominent airport in Florida. Some airlines that connect the airport include Air Canada, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, Spirit Airlines, among others.
