Blue Diamond

Blue diamond is one of the most expensive and rarest types of diamond which is backed with huge demand in the international world. Blue diamonds are popularly used for making astonishing jewelries especially for rings, pendants and ear-rings.

Formation

Naturally formed blue diamonds are hardly found. So, in today’s world various methods are adopted where blue diamonds are artificially produced. In such methods, ideal conditions under which natural blue diamonds evolve are created. Diamonds with dark blue shades are costlier than the normal ones. Because of its rarity, sapphire is increasingly becoming a strong competitor of the blue diamond, although it can hardly compensate for the elite class of the blue diamond.

Cuts

A blue diamond can be shaped differently. Cushion cut, heart shape, pear shape, octagon shape, princess cut and marquise cut are some of the popular cuts and shapes into which blue diamonds are molded.

Colors and Shades

These diamonds are found in different shades and tinges of blue. Some blue diamonds are colored more deeply while some have pale blue shades. The colors from which you can choose your favorite blue diamond range from deep aquamarine, rich deep blue to ice blue.

Most Popular

Regent, Queen of Holland, Hope, Wittelsbach, Sultan of Morocco, Blue Heart, Heart of Eternity, Transvaal Blue and Chard Blue are the names of some of the most popular blue diamonds of all time.Smithsonian Institute of Washington D.C is the storehouse of the most famous and largest blue diamond in the world, the Hope Diamond.
