Sol Lineas Aereas is also known officially as SOL S.A. Lineas Aereas and is based in Argentina. It was incorporated in 2005 and started during August 2006. This was preceded by an understanding between Santa Fe’s provincial government and Transatlantica Group. The main issue in the agreement was improvement in air connections within Santa Fe and Cordoba.
The plan initially behind creating the company was to establish connection between Santa Fe and the rest of Argentina, leaving Buenos Aires out. The main reason behind this was the fact that air services to the region were limited at that time, thanks to its proximity to Cordoba and Buenos Aires.
It had been also planned that the carrier would operate with smaller planes as most companies in Argentina used huge aircraft such as Boeing 737, Airbus A320 and McDonnell Douglas MD-80/MD-90. The primary intention was to establish daily flights to and from Santa Fe.
