Shenzhen Airlines was incorporated in November 1992 and kicked off its flight operations from 17th September 1993. It has 6 operating bases but its main center of operation is Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport.

Shenzhen Airlines is regarded as the fourth largest provider of domestic air services in China. In 2010 it transported an estimated 16.5 million passengers, which was almost 9% more than 2009. It became a member of the Star Alliance on 6th July 2011. It is the second airline to have joined the earliest and biggest airline coalition of the world.
