Although Norwegian Air Shuttle started functioning officialy in 2002, the journey began long ago in 1993 when it started working on behalf of Braathens with Fokker 50s. The year 2006 however saw a glorious period in the history of Norwegian Air Shuttle when 5.1 million passengers were transported in 87 routes -10 domestic and 77 international.
The company now boasts of 22 Boeing 737-300 aircrafts having a total capacity of 148 seats. This low-cost point-to-point airline is listed at the Oslo Stock Exchange and is based in Fornebu outside Oslo.

In-flight Services:
Smoking is banned in all Norwegian Air Shuttle flights. However at the discretion of the management the cabin crew may serve alcoholic drinks to the passengers.
Fare, Tickets and Reservation: Norwegian Air Shuttle
follows a system of ticket-less travel – prior reservation is made and passengers are requested to check-in well in advance and show their respective identity proofs before boarding the plane. The fare structure is reasonable depending on the destinations. The Airlines organizes fare sales and issues cheap tickets to different destinations as part of their promotional program. If 10 or more than 10 people are travelling in a group they must fill a reservation form to get reduction in their tickets. The travellers are allowed to carry up to 20 kgs of baggage and are required to pay for the excess baggage. Infants under 2 years are permitted to take up to 50 kgs of checked-in baggage with them. The agents make the reservations in Amadeus. Online booking is also available.
In September 2003 Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA entered into a partnership agreement with Roadfeeders AS for carrying cargos.
