Norwegian Air Shuttle


Norwegian Air Shuttle is officially referred to as Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA. It was set up on 22nd January 1993, and is the second-biggest provider of airline services in Scandinavia.

The operating bases of Norwegian Air Shuttle are Bergen, Stavanger, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki, Trondheim and Stavanger. Its head offices are at Diamanten in Forenbu, Baerum Norway. Its chairman is Bjorn H Kise and CEO is Bjorn Kjos.

Norwegian Air Shuttle Travel Services

As part of the travel services of Norwegian Air Shuttle, passengers will be able to change their tickets and alter the names with which the tickets have been booked. They can also reserve their preferred seats.

The cancellation insurance service lets passengers get the full value of their tickets back in case any family member takes ill and they are able to furnish proper medical documents to the effect.

Norwegian Air Shuttle Check In

Check in starts 2 hours before the flights leave. However, in case of international flights the minimum time is 45 minutes before take off and for local flights this time is 30 minutes prior to departure.

Passengers who need special help or are traveling with special luggage or pets need to check in at least an hour before the flight leaves. This also applies to unaccompanied minors. The minimum time limit in case of self service kiosks is similar to the airport check in counters.

The direct to gate service can be availed if the passengers are visiting Nordic countries and only have hand luggage. In case of flights to Israel the check in starts 3 hours prior to departure – the minimum time is an hour. In case of these flights passengers should be at the boarding gates at least 45 minutes before take off.

If the passengers are unable to come within the stipulated time they would not be able to board and have to buy new tickets.

Norwegian Air Shuttle Rules

Passengers can carry a couple of bags and they should not weigh more than 44 pounds each. Bags that weigh more will be allowed in lieu of additional fees. They are also supposed to have proper documents such as visas.

Children less than 2 years old can travel on laps for free at domestic flights and at 10% adult rates in international flights. Children within 2-11 years age group can travel on their own at 75% fares but in such cases bookings need to be made 48 hours before the flight and through Customer Service Centers.

It is necessary to provide age related authentication at the time of travel so that the discounted rates can be availed. Children within 12-15 years age limit need to pay full fare and need to show their passports.

The Unaccompanied Minor Service is available for children between 5-15 years and is provided if the parents or guardians ask for it. As per this service children are attended to and guided throughout the flight and then handed over to the appropriate person at the destination airport. Passengers older than 16 years are regarded as adults.

Pregnant ladies are allowed on board if they are four weeks away from delivering. However, if the flight is less than 4 hours then pregnant women, who are a couple of weeks from delivery, will be allowed to board the flight.

The passengers can watch the latest movies. However, these services are provided on the Boeing 737-800s for flights that stretch over 3.5 hours. They can also listen to internationally well known bands like Coldplay during the flight.

Norwegian Reward

Norwegian Reward is suitable for both business and leisure travelers. Once passengers enroll in the program they would receive personal CashPoints on each flight. These CashPoints can be used for various purposes such as new flights, reservation of seats, check-in luggage and changing tickets.
