Operational since September 24, 1946, Cathay Pacific Airways was the joint endeavor of Roy C Farrell, an American, and Sydney H de Kantzow, an Australian.

In its initial stages, Cathay Pacific Airlines operated scheduled passenger flights to destinations like Bangkok, Manila, Shanghai and Singapore. However, the business of the airlines witnessed a huge expansion in the following years and in recent times Cathay Pacific operates flights to more than 111 destinations throughout the world.
