The mega-event of Cricket- the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup would be hosted in none other than the spectacular West Indies and Caribbean islands, amidst stunning beaches, lively calypso and enthralling cricket.
The multi-national West Indies cricket team, more famously known as ‘the Windies’, comprising of the players from the Caribbean region, has been participating in the Cricket World Cup Tournaments since 1975. West Indies won the World Cup on two occasions in the 1975 and 1979 Cricket World Cup, also known as the Prudential Cup.
This challenging cricket-playing nation, with a Test rating of eighth and ODI rating of seventh amongst the world’s best cricket playing nations, has improved its performance, gearing up for the World Cup. Its recent series with India in January 2007 displays new potential waiting to be unleashed at the World Cup. The West Indies Cricket Board is the governing body for professional cricket in West Indies and the Caribbean region.
