Sterling Airlines


The erstwhile Danish carrier Sterling Airlines started to function from 2005 onwards after the merger of Sterling European Airlines and Maersk Air. The company closed its operations from 2008 onwards.

Sterling Airlines History
Sterling Airlines was established in 2005. The company started with a merger deal between Maersk Air and Sterling European Airlines, both Danish aviation enterprises. It folded up on 29th October 2008. The company had originally been preceded by Sterling Airways, which was established in 1962.

A month following the merger FL Group bought the company, which was followed one more sell to Nordic Travel Holding in December 2006. The airline registered for bankruptcy and ceased to operate on 29th October 2008.

Sterling Airlines Details
The former Danish carrier was based in Copenhagen Airport and its focus cities were Stockholm-Arlanda Airport, Billund Airport, Oslo Airport, Gardermoen and Malmo Airport. Its fleet size was 27.

Sterling Airlines offered flights to 29 destinations across 18 countries in Europe – Austria, Hungary, Belgium, Italy, Bulgaria, Norway, Croatia, Poland, Czech Republic, Portugal, Denmark, Spain, France, Sweden, Germany, Switzerland, Greece and United Kingdom. It was headquartered at Copenhagen Airport. Reza Taleghani served as its CEO.
