Mango is a next generation Airline launched in October 2006 depending on the internet for most of its operations. Its centre of operations is in South Africa, and it is a wholly owned subsidiary of South African Airways. It faces stiff opposition from Kulula and 1Time, which are also low cost carriers.
Mango did not have a promising start as there had been passenger complaints regarding delayed flights and flights having to return to their departure airport due to technical problems.
Fleets:
Presently, Mango Airlines has taken 4 Boeing 737-800 aircrafts from South African Airways on lease. However, the airline has future plans of bolstering its fleet by commissioning more aircrafts. The airline flies over the 4 cities of:
- Johannesburg
- Cape Town
- Durban
- Bloemfontein
Mango Aircraft:
Mango will be operating the ultra-safe Boeing B737-800 aircraft on all routes which is the preferred aircraft of all major Low Cost Airlines.
The B737-800 which has comfortable leather seats is configured to carry 186 guests. The cordial and well-trained cabin crews take special care of the guests.
Specials:
There are attractive flight offers from the airline called cool-off flights where the traveler has to pay only R175 (one way all inclusive) to fly to Durban or Johannesburg.
This special is only available via the Website; vouchers are not acceptable for redemption for this special. The offer is subjected to availability.
Passenger Facilities:
Mango Infants & Children:
Infants sitting on an adult’s lap must be older than 7 days and younger than 24 months. The airline may ask to see the infant’s birth certificate.
Unaccompanied Minors:
An unaccompanied minor is a child older than 2 years but who has not reached the age of 12 years, not traveling with an adult (16 years or older).
Mango does not cater for the carriage of any unaccompanied minors. Care must be taken that minors younger than 12 must be accompanied by a guest who is at least 16 years old.
Handicapped Guests:
Handicapped guests are welcome on Mango flights. The airline makes every effort to accommodate those with disabilities and to make their trip as comfortable as possible.
Pets:
Mango transports domestic pets only – dogs, cats, and small domestic birds.
Live animals are checked as cargo (in a pressurized compartment in the belly of the aircraft).
There is a small charge of R50.00 fee per container each way.
Car Hire:
The travelers can trust Mango even after they have landed with Tempest Sixt, the no frills, no fuss guys who have been giving the travelers ridiculously low car rental rates for years.
