Brazil Flag Colors

Officially adopted on 19th November, 1889, exactly four days after Brazil was declared a Republic, the design of Brazil Flag was initially created by a painter called Decio Vilares. Brazil Flag Colors comprise white, yellow, green and blue are the colors right from the beginning. However, it must be noted that every single color has a deep inner implication and are not used willfully on the Brazilian National Flag.

Among diverse Brazil Flag Colors, green stands for the lush green country meadows. Yellow represents the gold found extensively in Brazil. The Rio de Janeiro nocturnal sky view on 15th November, 1889 finds suitable expression in the blue color of the flag, while the stars found scattered on the flag body symbolize individual Brazilian states. The milk-white equatorial strip with the words "Ordem e Progresso" inscribed on it, means "Order and Progress". These phrases are the innovation of the French positivist philosopher, Augusto Comte, who was well esteemed in Brazil.

The yellow color on the Brazilian National Flag appears in the form of a large diamond at the center, with a blue-colored celestial globe on it bearing 27 white stars, with five points each. Each of these five points is for the individual states and the Federal districts. The white band envelops this blue globe just like the Equator.



The yellow and green colors of Brazilian Flag are symbolic of the Braganca and Habsburg Royal Houses. The total number of stars enhances in number with the formation of a new state in Brazil.
