Lijiang City




The antique city of Lijiang in Yunnan is found in Dayan Town. It is located on a plateau at a height of 2,600m. This place is highly impressive because of its scenery and flourishing vegetation. It is a Naxi minority city. In Lijiang, Yunnan Naxi settlement was first built during the Southern Song Dynasty, that is some eight centuries ago.
Naxi is a group of minority culture people originating from Tibet. Lijiang, in Yunnan is perhaps the best maintained old town in China. In this place you can witness and experience a historic, traditional urban culture of the country. UNESCO has put Lijiang in China on a list of the world major cultural heritages.

The Lijiang in Yunnan is the old town in Yunnan which has a history more than 800 years. This old town is crisscrossed by twisting paved streets and crystal clear rivers. The Lijiang in Yunnan is located beside the Yangtze River. Traffic across the rivers is facilitated by a large number of ting stone bridges. The narrow streets can give you a peaceful and calm feeling of the real life in Lijiang. The Lijiang old town is also popular for the Venice of the East because of its well-regulated system of waterways and bridges. Recently Lijiang in Yunnan has gone through a massive earthquake in which all the newly built concrete buildings were flattened, but not the old houses of Lijiang. Amazingly, the old houses with stone foundations, plastered whitewashed brick walls, red wooden doors, shutters and balconies, and sloping tiled roofs, survived without much damage in this sudden earthquake attack. In Lijiang, Yunnan you can find the Black Dragon Pool , which is a nice park with some interesting temples. Here you can also get a great view of the nearby Jade Dragon Snow Mountains.

Culture is the soul of Lijiang the ancient town in Yunnan. Here you can find the Dongba culture which has become an integral part of Naxi culture. This kind of culture mostly can be found in the Dongba religion, which is believed to be one thousand years old.
