Symbolism of Montana Flag
The beautiful depiction on the seal of the Montana Flag features glimpses of a radiant sun rising behind snow-capped mountains. A shovel, pick and plow are arranged amid a backdrop of impressive cliffs, lush forests and the Great Falls of the river Missouri. These tools are emblematic of the old as well as the new farming and mining methods of the state. They suggest their importance in earning the state's prosperity due to the presence of great mineral and agricultural resources. The state motto is written in Spanish in the lower portion of the seal on a ribbon. It reads “Oro-Y-Plata” meaning gold and silver.
The emblem on the Montana Flag, with its picturesque landscape forms the perfect representation of Montana.
