The Missouri River Map, developed by Mapsofworld.com, is a comprehensive and detailed account of the various rivers and water bodies that run through the land of Missouri. There are quite a number of rivers flowing through Missouri but the largest, most important river in the state is, by far, the Missouri River.

One of the longest rivers in USA, the Missouri River can be seen flowing through the central parts of Missouri, and plays an essential role both in the state’s economy and the lives of its people. It is a formidable feature on the map, occupying a major position in the topography of the state as the second-largest tributary of Mississippi River. Originating in the state of Montana, at the confluence of the three rivers, Madison, Jefferson, and Gallatin, the Missouri River flows south into the Mississippi River near St. Louis after traversing a long and meandering path of 2,341 miles.

Near its confluence with the Mississippi River, the Missouri River forms a large river basin covering an area of 338.5 million hectares. The Missouri Basin Area is one of the most fertile lands in the United States. The thick, dark silt deposited by the Missouri River is ideal for the growth of several crops such as wheat, corn and sugarcane. The water of the Missouri River is also rich in marine life and home to over 150 species of fish.

Missouri is surrounded by the state of Iowa in the north, Nebraska in the northeast, Kansas in the west, Oklahoma in the southwest, Arkansas in the south, Tennessee in the southeast and Kentucky and Illinois in the east. Some of the significant bodies of water, as shown on River Map of Missouri, are as follows:

- Current River
- Cuivre River
- Chariton River
- Gasconade River
- Big River
- North River
- Black River
- Blackwater River
- St. Francis River

Missouri has a total of 994 miles of navigable waterway, and the Missouri River Map accurately traces the origin and course of the various waterways, and facilitates the navigation and exploration of those same bodies of water. The river map of Missouri also highlights the Lake of the Ozarks which occupies 93 sq. miles, and is one of the most prominent artificial lakes of the state.
