Songea is a city in the south-eastern part of
Tanzania. It is the capital city of the Ruvuma region of
Tanzania.

Songea could be divided into two distinct parts. The two parts of
Songea are
Songea Urban and
Songea Rural.
Songea Urban is one of the 5 districts of the Ruvuma region in
Tanzania.
Songea Urban is bordered by the
Songea Rural district in the north. The Namtumbo district borders
Songea Urban in the east. Mbinga district forms the west border. The African country of Mozambique borders the urban area of
Songea in the south.
Songea Urban is demarcated into 13 wards for administrative purposes. The 13 wards are Bomba Mbili, Lizaboni, Matarawe, Majengo, Misufini, Matogoro, Mfaranyaki, Mshangano, Mletete, Ruvuma,
Songea Mjini and Ruhuwiko.
Songea Rural is bordered by the Namtumbo district in the east. The
Morogoro region borders rural
Songea in the north. The
Songea Urban district makes up its southern borders. The Mbinga district forms the western borders. Gem is mined in the
Songea region. Coffee is also grown in
Songea.
