Panama Language

Panama is actually home to about fourteen different languages, including those spoken by indigenous groups and immigrant communities. Spanish is the official language of Panama and is spoken by the vast majority of the people. About 14% people speak English.


The main and official Panama language is Spanish, which is widely spoken by most of the people in the country. This Panama language is loved and respected by every citizen and gives them a unique and separate identity.

However apart from Spanish, another popular Panama language is English, which is fluently spoken by around 14% of the population.

English is also one of the chosen mediums of instruction and education in numerous good schools in Panama. Some people in Panama are also bilingual, that is, they speak both Spanish and English with equal ease. The literacy rate of the country is pretty good, which is approximately 88%. Some interesting languages like Japanese, Hebrew, Arabic, Eastern Yiddish, and Korean are also spoken by a small minority of Panama.

Some Panama Languages

The existence of a fusion of various ethnic groups in the country accounts for the many native Panama languages. There are many native Panama languages, which are living and popular among certain races. Buglere, Yue, Hakka, Embera, Northern Embera, Embera -Catio, San Miguel Creole French, Panamanian Creole English, Ngabere, San Blas Kuna, Epena, San Blas Kuna, Woun Meu, and Teribe are some of the traditional Panama languages.

Every Panama language is interesting, rich, and forms a part of the vast culture of Panama.
