Madagascar is situated in between 20° 00' South latitude and 47° 00' East longitude. This latitude and longitude has placed Madagascar in the southern part of Africa and in the Indian Ocean as an island. Madagascar 's latitude and longitude has created several types of landscapes in the country. In the central part of Madagascar there are the mountainous and high land areas. Otherwise in the remaining part of the country there can be seen coastal plain lands.
Madagascar has variation in its climate also due to its latitude and longitude. The dominant climate here is of the nature of subtropical weather . As a result the weather in summer is hot and humid. Winter weather is dry and cold. Rainfall varies from one place to another in Madagascar . While in the central part there is moderate amount of precipitation, south and south west part Madagascar get very little rainfall and are semi deserts.
