Botswana Tourism is beginning to emerge to the forefront slowly but steadily in the recent years. The tourism industry contributes a significant part to the total GDP of the country by providing 12% of the GDP. The major reason for the flourishing of Botswana Tourism is the presence of the rarest and the most unique ecosystems, namely, the Okavango Delta, which is located in the land of Botswana.

The Okavango Delta was once a major part of the Lake Makgadikgadi, which dried up ten thousand years ago. This is the main reason why the Oakavango River does not flow into the sea but rather empties itself in the Kalahari Desert. Tourism in Botswana is flourishing more because of the excellent opportunities for game viewing as well as birding at Okavango Delta and also at Chobe Game Reserve. The latter one acts as a home for the largest varieties of free ranging elephants across the globe. Another important site for Botswana Tourism is the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, which also offers majestic sights of game viewing and an opportunity to encounter the rarest varieties of the African wilderness.
