Hurricane Nate weakens

Hurricane Nate has considerably weakened. However, before weakening, Nate brought power outages and caused flooding in the US Gulf Coast. Nevertheless, the hurricane did not cause any serious damage. As the storm pushed northward into the states of Alabama and Georgia, it quickly lost strength and its winds diminished to a tropical depression.
Hurricane Nate makes US landfall

Hurricane Nate has made landfall in the United States as a category 1 storm. According to the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Nate made landfall in southeast Louisiana near the mouth of the Mississippi River. As per the National Weather Service, a second landfall is forthcoming. Hurricane Nate has maximum sustained wind speeds of 85 miles per hour.

Hurricane Nate, which is expected to strike New Orleans on Saturday night, is likely to cause damages amounting to $1 billion across the US and Central America. Nate, which was earlier a tropical storm, has been upgraded to a hurricane by the National Hurricane Center. The storm has already claimed 17 lives in Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Nate is expected to make landfall in the US as a category 1 storm and will have wind speeds of more than 74 miles an hour.
Hurricane Nate intensifying in the Gulf of Mexico

Hurricane Nate, which is expected to make landfall as a category 1 hurricane along the northern Gulf Coast on Saturday night or Sunday morning, is intensifying in the southern Gulf of Mexico. As per reports, authorities have issued storm surge and hurricane warnings for the US northern Gulf Coast. Warnings have also been issued for New Orleans. The tropical storm will lead to heavy rains from the Gulf Coast to the Appalachians. Some parts of the Northeast will also experience swath of heavy rains.
Tropical Storm Nate: Hurricane watch and tropical storm warning in effect in Cozumel and Cancún

According to reports, Tropical Storm Nate's center is back over the Caribbean Sea north of the nation of Honduras. Tropical Storm Nate has claimed around 20 lives.  A hurricane watch and tropical storm warning is in effect in Cozumel and Cancún where the storm is expected to make its closest approach on Friday night. On Saturday night or early Sunday, Nate is expected to make landfall along the northern Gulf coast where storm surge and hurricane watches have been issued.
Louisiana braces for Tropical Storm Nate

As Louisiana braces for a hit from Tropical Storm Nate, Governor John Bel Edwards has declared a state of emergency. Media reports quoted the governor as saying that 1,300 National Guard troops have been mobilized to deal with the situation. Of these, 13 have been sent to New Orleans to monitor the pumping system in the city. Forecasters are projecting a landfall in the southeastern parts of the state on Sunday.
