Located in the northeastern United States, Connecticut is the third smallest state by area and the fourth most densely populated state. It borders states of New York, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. It is bounded by the Long Island Sound to the south.




Connecticut has earned a few nicknames such as The Constitution State (official), The Nutmeg State, and The Provisions State. Its capital city is Hartford while Bridgeport is the most populous city. There are eight counties in Connecticut. The Fairfield county is the most populous while Litchfield county is the largest by area.

Founded in 1701, the Yale University has its central campus located in downtown New Haven. The Bear Mountain in Salisbury is the highest peak in Connecticut and the highest point is the southern slope of Mount Frissell. Stamford, Waterbury, Norwalk, and Bristol are other major cities in Connecticut.

The Bradley International Airport (BDL) in Hartford County is the busiest airport in the state.
