It is generally regarded that cricket is a batsmen's game, more so in One-Day Internationals. The spectators throng the grounds to watch their heroes in action. As the World Cup is held once every four years the enthusiasm is even more among them.
The players also put in their best to leave a mark on this quadrennial event. As a result a number of batting records are created.

  • South African Gary Kiersten holds the record for the highest individual score at the World Cup. His score of 188 not out against the United Arab Emirates still remains unbeaten.
