Greenland, the world's largest island, is a country within the Kingdom of Denmark. Though politically part of Europe, Greenland is actually a part of North America. Greenland's vast lands are divided into four territories, known as municipalities.

The island has 44,087 kilometers of coastline, but the vast majority of the land in Greenland is covered in ice. Almost all of the population of Greenland lives along the coastal regions in which there is no ice.
