Burundi Population is quite colorful as it is consisted of people from various cultural background. Presently the population of Burundi is 6,373,002. The population growth rate of Burundi is 2.36%. The birth rate of the country is 39.87 births/1,000 population, the death rate is 16.3 deaths/1,000 population and the fertility rate is 6.07 children born/woman.

Burundi Population can be divided in three age structure such as from 0-14 years: 46.5%, from 15-64 years: 50.7% and from 65 years and above 2.8%. Population in Burundi is consisted of people from different ethnic groups like Hutu 85%, Twa 1%, Tutsi 14%, South Asians 2,000 and Europeans 3,000.

The People of Burundi follow different religions. The main prevailing religion is Christianity as 67% of the population follow this religion. Among them 62% are Roman Catholic and 5% are Protestant. 23% of the population follow indigenous beliefs and 10% of the population are Muslim.

Burundi Population speak in different languages. Kirundi and French are the official languages. People who live along the Lake Tanganyika and in the Bujumbura area also speak in Swahili. 35.5% of the population are literate. 49.3% of the literate people are male and 22.5% female. People of Burundi are quite hospitable and friendly.
