A
Central European country,
Poland is officially known as the
Republic of Poland. In the North the
country of Poland is bordered by the
Baltic Sea, Lithuania and Kaliningrad Oblast, in the Southern side is the
Czech Republic and Slovakia, in the East lies Ukraine and Belarus and to the West is Germany. The country of
Poland covers five different Geographical regions, these include the Baltic sea coast which lies in the North West. This Baltic Coast extends from the Bay of Pomerania to the Gdansk Gulf and is marked by coastal lakes and dunes. The Szczecin Lagoon, the Bay of Puck, and the Vistula Lagoon indent this more or less straight coast line. Parts of North and Center lie in the North European Lowlands and rising from these Lowlands is a hilly region which includes four districts which were formed during the Pleistocene ice age, these Districts are:
- Pomeranian Lake District,
- Greater Polish Lake District,
- Kashubian Lake District,
- Masurian Lake District
The regions of Silesia and Masovia are located at the South of the
North European Lowlands and are marked by river Valleys which were formed during the ice age. The
Polish mountainous region is located further South.
The
climate in Poland, in general is temperate . In the Northern and the Western parts the climate is Oceanic in nature and towards the South and East it is more of a Continental kind. With warm summers,
Poland experiences really cold winters.
With the fusion of both the East and the West,
Polish Culture has a rich History and heritage which is almost a hundred years old. This fusion and glorious past is evident in the
Polish folklore, art and architecture.
Polish food is unique in nature and is also a part of their cultural identity. The most popular
