Yazd is a manufacturing center. It has silk, cotton and wool mills. Besides this, it also has workshops for carpet weaving, water purification unit and food processing units. Yazd city also has mines which produces uranium, iron, zinc ore, lead. Yazd city connects the main highway and the rail line from Tehran to Bandar e Abbas. In the 20th century, Yazd has experienced an economic renaissance.
